From Junior Bake Off to Cambodia:
Meet Ella!
Ella is 13, a passionate baker, and one of the final 100 contestants in Junior Bake Off!
Now, she’s combining her love of baking with a bigger dream – helping children in Cambodia get a better start in life. Ella is raising £3,500 to volunteer at a school in Cambodia with the Girlguiding Association.
In summer 2027, I will be travelling to Cambodia with Girlguiding to support a local primary school through hands-on community work.
Our group of Guides from Cambridgeshire will spend two weeks:
Helping young children in their lessons
Painting and decorating classrooms
Planting gardens and outdoor learning spaces
Making the school a brighter, friendlier place to grow and learn
This trip is about giving back – not just exploring a new culture, but leaving something meaningful behind.
Every penny I raise helps cover the basic costs that make this project possible: travel, kit, vaccinations, and the materials we’ll need to carry out the work.

Where Ella's Going - And Why It Matters
In summer 2027, Ella will spend two weeks volunteering at a school in Cambodia. She’ll support English lessons through games, lead arts and crafts sessions, promote good hygiene habits, and help with building or painting around the school.
Many families in Cambodia face financial hardship and often struggle to access early education. By volunteering, Ella and her Girlguiding team will help ease the strain on local schools and contribute to creating safer, more welcoming spaces for children to learn and play.
This trip isn’t just about travel. It’s a chance to connect with another culture, support a local community, and bring happiness to children who deserve more.
While in Cambodia, she will:
Help children develop vital life and learning skills
Support teachers in under-resourced schools
Renovate and brighten up classrooms and outdoor spaces
Relieve families so parents can work while kids are cared for
Immerse in Cambodian culture - building empathy and global understanding
By volunteering in schools and care centres, we’ll help give children a better start in life - and create a brighter learning environment for years to come.<br />
